UPDATE 5/1/20: Park hours have been updated to 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, Monday-Sunday.

UPDATE 4/3/20: Park parking lots closed, parks remain open for passive recreation.

After an extensive review of all operations and in accordance with recommendations provided by the City of El Cajon, the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency, the CDC, and other local, state, and federal health agencies, the City of El Cajon Parks and Recreation Department has CLOSED the following facilities and programs to the public through AT LEAST April 30, 2020.

  • All park playgrounds
  • All park workout stations
  • All park parking lots
  • Bostonia Recreation Center
  • Fletcher Hills Community Center & Pool
  • Hillside Community Center
  • Kennedy Recreation Center & Skatepark
  • Renette Recreation Center
  • Ronald Reagan Community Center
  • All youth and adult classes, programs, and leagues
  • All facility rentals
  • All special events

The closures are part of our ongoing effort to be proactive in protecting the health and safety of our citizens and visitors. During this time parks will remain open for passive recreation and restrooms will remain open for the public to use.

City staff will be contacting individuals that have registered for a program, or reserved a special events space, that are impacted by this closure to discuss alternative arrangements.

The City of El Cajon Parks and Recreation Department wants to thank our community for their patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through the rapidly changing circumstances regarding COVID-19. 

During this time, we encourage you to visit our Virtual Recreation Resources page, where you can find information and resources to help you and your family stay active, healthy, connected, entertained, and educated during these unprecedented times. The Mobile Rec Squad is also offering free Rec Squad Videos & Activities for members of our community to continue and enjoy recreation activities from their homes.
