weighorst musuemThe Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center in El Cajon honors the accomplished artist who lived in our community for 44 years.  Olaf Wieghorst, known for his magnificent portrayals of the nineteenth century American West, exhibited a remarkable affinity for the cowboys, the Native American Indians, and the settlers who helped shape this country’s Western landscape.

The original home of Mae and Olaf Wieghorst was moved to the Museum grounds and has been designated a “Historic Landmark” by the city of El Cajon. The restoration of the home to its original condition, including landscaping, has been completed and the home is now open for public tours.

You can also arrange private tours and classroom visits, Tuesday through Saturday.   By becoming a supporting member of the museum, you can enjoy many benefits such as free year-round admission to the Museum, 10% discount at our Museum Store, and invitations to our exclusive exhibitions, artist’s receptions, and other community events.

The museum is located at 131 Rea Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020.  For more information, visit www.wieghorstmuseum.org or call (619) 590-3431.
