Annual Road Maintenance Repair Project
This City project consists of asphalt and concrete spot repairs, pavement grinding and replacement, and new traffic striping.
For everyone’s safety, please observe all traffic safety signs, No Parking and Tow Away signs, and detours in construction zones.
Residents will be notified, at least 48 hours, prior to any construction within the project limits. Unless otherwise notified, trash schedules will not be changed.
CalRecycle Rubberized Pavement Grant
The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) provides the Rubberized Pavement (Pavement) Grant Program to promote markets for recycled-content surfacing products derived from waste tires generated in California and decrease the adverse environmental impacts created by unlawful disposal and stockpiling of waste tires.
The City of El Cajon received a $350,000 grant from CalRecycle, which in part funded the paving of eight (8) collector and arterial roads throughout the city with rubberized asphalt during the Overlay 2022 project, including Washington Ave., Granite Hills Dr., Mollison Ave., and Main St. A total of 29,211 California waste tires were diverted from the waste stream and recycled into the new pavement during this project.
