Strategy 2: Reduce Fuel Use

This strategy provides measures and actions that go beyond changing fuel types to reduce fuel consumption citywide. Under this strategy, on-road transportation fuel consumption would be reduced by improving traffic flow and increasing the efficiency of the existing transportation network. Off-road vehicle and equipment fuel consumption would be reduced through the use of renewable or alternative fuel equipment. Emissions reductions in this strategy would be achieved through interagency participation to implement projects in the City’s right-of-way, and working with developers and fleet owners to phase out old, fossil fuel reliant equipment. This strategy includes two measures and three actions that would reduce the City’s emissions by approximately 2,200 MTCO2e by 2030. Table 3-4 provides an overview of these:
