Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy for electricity generation will
reduce emissions and provide a more sustainable source of electricity. Under this
strategy, emissions are reduced by streamlining access to renewable energy; boxfor5
increasing the supply of renewable energy for residential, commercial, and
municipal operations within the City; and increasing the amount of onsite
renewable energy at existing and new residential and non-residential
development. Implementation of the two measures and three actions under this
strategy would reduce the City’s emissions by approximately 19,300 MTCO2e by
2030. Strategy 5 accounts for 60 percent of the City’s 2030 reduction goal. Table 3-7
outlines the framework for this strategy.
