TYPE OF INCIDENT: Arrest of Homicide Suspect (Update to Previous Release 10/23/20)

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: 25 year old male
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On 10/23/20 at about 8:41 AM, ECPD officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Marlene Ave. A family member had discovered the victim deceased in his home. The victim was identified as 33 year old Victor Saul Garcia Jr. Officers noted that it appeared there had been a struggle, and the victim was stabbed several times. ECPD Homicide Detectives and Forensic Lab were called to the scene to investigate. The incident was determined to be a homicide.
During the investigation the suspect was identified as 25 year old Gustavo Rojas Salgado of San Diego. Salgado had an unrelated warrant for his arrest. ECPD Detectives worked with the U.S. Marshall’s Regional Fugitive Task Force to attempt to locate Salgado.
On 11/29/20, Salgado was located by the Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force in Spring Valley. ECPD Detectives and members of the Fugitive Task Force contacted and arrested Salgado for his outstanding warrant without further incident.
