TYPE OF INCIDENT: Hit and Run Vehicle v. Pedestrian Collision
OCCURRED: 03/15/2016 at 8:20am
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 500 East Chase, El Cajon
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
At approximately 8:20am El Cajon Police Officers and Fire Department Paramedics responded to reports of a juvenile pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle in the 500 block of East Chase Avenue in El Cajon.
Based on preliminary evidence and witness statements, the juvenile was crossing the street mid-block and outside of a crosswalk in the 500 block of Chase Avenue with two other juveniles. The girl entered the path of a silver 2-door compact passenger car traveling East on East Chase Avenue in the #2 lane when she was struck. The girl was transported to Children's Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other two juveniles were unharmed.
The driver of the silver 2-door compact passenger vehicle failed to stop or render aid at the scene of the collision and was last seen by witnesses continuing East on Chase Avenue. The following image of the hit-and-run vehicle was captured from a surveillance camera near the collision scene.
